Mountain Bike RacesTanzanian Bike Safaris and Adventure Sport & Leisure Ltd currently support two mountain bike races the 'The Mount Meru Mountain Bike Challenge' and the 'Rift Valley Mountain Bike ‘Team’ challenge'. We are developing other challenging races to cater for the growing popularity of mountain biking in Tanzania. The Mount Meru Mountain Bike Challenge or 'MMM Bike Challenge' began in 2001 as a fun race, simply designed to encourage people to get on their bikes! A large number of locals were encouraged to have a go and much to their surprise thoroughly enjoyed it!! |

The race has continued as a yearly event attracting over 50 riders, representing both the expatriate and local communities. In response to the demands of many of the more able competitors, the 2004 race will include a special ‘elite section’. This route is designed to take the riders up higher onto the mountain. The route goes into the forest, through some tough technical riverine sections and of course the climbs will be tough. But this will inevitably result in great downhill sections! For the social cycling fraternity and the youth there is a shorter route. This culminates at a local hotel for food & prize giving. |

Rift Valley Mountain Bike ‘Team’ challenge A new event for the cycling calendars here in Arusha. Designed to take in the challenges and delights of the Rift Valley. This race is a two-day event with the added fun of having to work and stay together as a team in order to complete the course. Each team is made up of four people, whatever gender mix you like. The route takes us from the heights of the Monduli mountain range down towards the Rift Valley wall to a town called Engaruka. The second day sees us heading west towards the town of Mto wa Mbu, (river of mosquitoes). |
